What do you think is the most parsimonious explanation for the timing of the arrival of Homo erectus in Asia? Are the claims for very early dates likely correct and Homo erectus left Africa and reached China and Java by at least 1.8 million years ago? Or, are the dates most likely wrong and the earliest sites in Asia simply represent the arrival of people who only left Africa around 1.8 mya and slowly spread into the rest of the Old World?
