What is Micro-Tutoring?
Micro-Tutoring is based on locazU‘s Canada-wide student community. The platform offers students a way to scale-down their tutoring costs by getting highly targeted answers, FAST.
By using Micro-Tutoring, students in need of tutoring:
- Post assignment / tutorial / homework questions
- Get answers FAST
- Choose an answer, & pay the tutor
OR choose from the available tutorials, class notes, study guides, and flash cards, pay as little as $0.50 per item, and ace your course!

Where should I start?
Post your Flash Cards
Be pro-active about micro-tutoring: upload the class notes you already have and price them to sell for as little as $0.50 - you never know who missed class and is desperate to get the class notes! Especially in those larger classes, the same notes keep getting downloaded , while you make money, for life! Do the same with your study guides, flash cards that you already have anyway.
And, learn by teaching! The more you tutor, the more you’re likely to learn and remember.
*Big Tip: Post quality tutorials, and price them well!

How much do I charge for my tutorial?
What you think your work is worth depending on complexity and the time requirement. But keep in mind that if you charge a lower rate, you may be able to sell the same tutorial multiple times (did somebody from marketing say volume sales?!).
You can price your tutorial for as little as $0.50 if it’s a fairly simple one. For the more complex tutorials, a good rate can be anywhere from $5-50.
If you post 50 tutorials, or class notes that you already have, and even if only half of them get downloaded, 5 times each, at an average price of $5, then you’re looking at about $500. If you take this more seriously and post more, then you’re probably already sitting on a cash cow!
How would students choose my tutorial?
They only see a sample of your work and make their decision based on this preview, and your ratings and reviews (once you start to accumulate the latter).
Also, as students search for textbooks on locazU from coast to coast, then your tutorials will also come up as suggestions on the side panel (we’re currently setting this up), giving your content more exposure and marketing. We also do a fair bit of campus marketing to promote your work.

How would I get paid?
You keep 75%, we keep 25% (yes, we’ve got bills to pay, and hobbies to feed:). We transfer the funds to you once a month at the beginning of each month to cut down the transactional costs (and inefficiencies).
You will need to have a PayPal account to have your cash transferred to you.
What’s allowed?
Step-by-step tutorials to help students learn. No cheating or doing someone’s homework. If we catch those (we monitor constantly) we’ll delete the entire account.
Soon, we’ll also allow you to post video tutorials.
What’s the marketing plan?
We’ll be working hard contacting our site users and spruiking Micro-Tutoring across the country. But we can always use your help. Post Tutorials or Questions, and then TELL THE WORLD! Remember, more people seeing your questions and tutorials means more downloads and more money in your hip-pocket. It’s all about community. Share and share alike.
