COURSE DESCRIPTION: Basic fundamentals of the construction, operating principles, testing and servicing of internal combustion engine systems. COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to: · Explain terms and definitions of engine systems · Identify engine components and the basic operation of the engine · Dismantle, inspect and test basic engine assemblies with the prescribed service tools and equipment · Explain the basic principles of operation of oil pumps, oil coolers, heat exchangers, oil filters and engine oils. · Explain the function, composition and construction of cooling system pressure caps, thermostats, water pumps, radiators, fans and shrouds.TOTAL COURSE HOURS: 64 Hours
COURSE DESCRIPTION: The basic fundamentals of electricity, electrical production, circuit characteristics and troubleshooting techniques will be introduced, along with various electrical terms, meter usage and mathematical predictions. COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to: Use hand held meters safely with reliable and meaningful results. Understand the variety of electrical terms used throughout the trades. Identify, explain and predict circuit needs with respect to voltage and amperage values. Explain the function, composition and construction of relays, alternators, batteries andvarious electrical devices.
