Description: Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education & satisfactory completion of the following courses: EDUC 3300, EDUC 3350, MATH 3600. The opening of school experience is designed to provide practical hands-on experiences in the school and classroom setting during the initial days of the school year. This course is a five-day, full-time experience in an elementary school or high school that occurs during two days of pre-planning and the first three days of school. Candidates will assist a teacher in preparing for the opening of school and will observe and reflect on how the teacher establishes the classroom climate and routines during the early days of school.
